Photographer captures bird’s-eye view of beloved annual event.
The Hot Air Affair is a Hudson, Wisconsin, tradition. For the past few years, local photographer Dave Hermansen has been taking in the view from a unique perspective. “I’ve always followed the Hot Air Affair. I’ve been in Hudson most of my life, and so I usually go up there,” he says. While the event doesn’t allow drones, Hermansen takes off from a nearby football field. “This is the third time I’ve done the Hot Air Affair with my drone, and I just know when they do the Moon Glow, the colors are just really cool, and the lights … It’s just a whole new perspective.”
