Hudson’s Booster Days event brings family-friendly festivities and Bingo.
The Fourth of July is coming around soon, and that means the Hudson Boosters members are preparing for the annual festivities in Hudson, Wisconsin. As a community event that showcases Fourth of July fireworks, Booster Days is a fundraiser that supports children participating in sports teams. The money raised goes toward getting equipment and uniforms or maintaining local playing fields for U16 football, baseball and softball. This year’s event is from June 29 to July 2; the carnival will begin on opening day with a parade and car show on July 1 and fireworks on July 2.
Booster Days coordinator Holly Shultz says she looks forward to seeing the community coming together to support the cause each year and enjoy carnival games, food trucks, parade festivities and more. While activities change through the years, Schultz shares a memory she can count on each year. It has something to do with people calling out, “Bingo!”
The week of the Booster Days festivities, the crew puts up a big, blue bingo tent that takes all morning to assemble. “That has been the original bingo tent, so it is kind of [historic],” Schultz says. The process is worthwhile, as many visitors come in to purchase cards to participate in the tradition and have a chance to win a small cash prize. So, who is ready to play?
