St. Croix Valley Opera Presents “The Magic Flute & The Lost Prince for Kids”
Commissioned and produced by St. Croix Valley Opera (SCVO), The Magic Flute & The Lost Prince for Kids is the second work in SCVO’s growing library of operas created especially for young audiences.
Using the timeless music of Mozart’s The Magic Flute, this reimagined version features new, age-appropriate dialogue and an engaging story that invites children into the world of opera through laughter, participation, and heart.
Students meet Papageno, a lovable bird-catcher who longs for friendship; Tamino, a prince learning what true bravery means; and Pamina, whose kindness helps guide them all. Along the way, the audience becomes part of the magical forest itself—responding, listening and learning alongside the characters.
The production will tour schools throughout the Twin Cities Metro and the St. Croix River Valley, followed by special public performances at The Phipps Center for the Arts. These ticketed performances feature an extended version of the story, giving families the chance to experience even more music, magic, and storytelling together.
