The nonprofit has identified its likely future location.
Since 2022, Valley Community Center (VCC) has been making strides to open an inclusive gathering space that will provide an accessible, multi-purpose gymnasium, group and individual fitness opportunities, a public pool and more. This past fall, VCC took its next step toward crossing the finish line by signing a purchase agreement for the former site of Lake Elmo Elementary.
VCC plans to secure the site in late 2026 after conducting studies on the site and securing funds through a capital campaign. According to VCC’s website, “VCC explored a dozen potential sites within a 15-minute drive of 60,000 households and more than 175,000 residents. The ideal site will serve the diverse population of eastern Washington County and the central St. Croix Valley.” The former site of Lake Elmo Elementary, which will close in May 2026 and move to a new building, is centrally located to serve Washington County’s 33 communities.
VCC’s 2026 priorities include developing a roadmap to construction, growing its board and investing in its systems to prepare for the upcoming capital campaign. Visit thevalleycenter.org to learn more about the project and how you can get involved.
