Minnesota is the Land of 10,000 Lakes – might as well learn to sail on them.

There are several sailing schools in the St. Croix Valley area that provide classes for children, teens and adults, from beginner to expert level.

  • Based on the Hudson waterfront, the Saint Croix Sailing School is a registered nonprofit community sailing center open to all, providing classes for those age 7 and up.
  • Since 1974, the St. Croix Sailing Club has offered beginner, intermediate and expert level training for children 7 and up, teens and adults.
  • Sail Away Sailing School specializes in training adults, from beginners to expert level. Sail Away offers LLC classes, cruises and coaching in Minnesota, on the Great Lakes and in the Caribbean, under lead instructor captain Joan Gilmore, who holds a master’s degree in adult learning styles. She has conducted research and presents seminars on how adults learn.
