Minnesota’s premier family-friendly winter resort, Afton Alps, is opening for the much-anticipated ski and snowboard season on Friday, November 22 at 3:30 p.m. To celebrate, Afton Alps will offer s’mores and hot cocoa, food trucks, live music, hat-making and much more until the resort closes at 8 p.m. Opening day rates will be $39, or $34 with the Preferred Program. Crafts! Science! Nature! Cut and create beautiful snowflakes for your windows, and other snowflake crafts from simple to highly complex. Learn how snowflakes are formed in the sky, and peer at beautiful preserved snowflake crystals up close on the microcam. Walk when the Moon is full to listen and look for these flying mousetraps! Great horned and barred owls make the nature center home. Back inside, dissect an owl pellet to identify the teeth and bones of the creatures they eat. Learn to identify 5 owl calls and practice calling, too! Bring a mug for a hot beverage afterward! Join us at Stillwater Public Library on Monday, December 9 at 6:00 p.m. for stories, songs, movement, and more to encourage the development of early learning skills. For children ages 5 and under and their caregivers.

Join us at the Stillwater Public Library on Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m. for Baby Storytime with singing, talking, reading, writing, and playing at this inclusive storytime for families with babies. This is a time for you and your baby to bond with one another. Stay and play after storytime (until noon). It’s a great opportunity to meet new friends, socialize, and strengthen early literacy skills! This storytime is recommended for developmental ages 0-2 and their grown-ups (siblings always welcome).
