Family Storytime: Stillwater Library

Join us at the Stillwater Public Library on Wednesdays through November 14 from 10:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. for Family Storytime. Read, play, sing, talk, and write together with stories and activities to develop early literacy skills for toddlers and preschoolers. Siblings welcome. For ages 2–6. All children must be accompanied by an adult. 

Program is free and no registration is required.

Rockets and Aliens: to Infinity and Beyond

Join us at the Stillwater Public Library on Wednesday, August 29 from 10:15 a.m. - 11:15 p.m. for Rockets and Aliens: to Infinity and Beyond. Go on an adventure through the solar system and beyond with the Story Man from England. Get ready to blast off for a program that is rockin’ with rockets and alive with aliens. Ages: 2-8.

Event is free and no registration is necessary. Program is funded in part with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage (Legacy) Fund.

Note: This program is in place of Family Storytime.

Baby Storytime

Join us at the Stillwater Public Library on Tuesdays from 10:15 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. for Baby Storytime. Stories, songs, fingerplays and more to encourage the development of early literacy skills. For children birth to 24 months & caregivers. Siblings welcome. 

Program is free and no registration is necessary.

Preschool Yoga Storytime

Join us at the Stillwater Public Library on Wednesday, August 22 and Wednesday, December 12 from 10:30 AM - 11:15 AM for Preschool Yoga Storytime. In this interactive BooksMoveME class, kids and grown ups ignite their imagination becoming cats, cows, dogs, frogs, lions and more! We will move through a kid-friendly warm up, make a picture book come alive through yoga, and end with a "Sleeping Lions" relaxation. This active story time helps children develop better body awareness, self-control, flexibility, and coordination.

HOME FOR A BUNNY: NATURE FAMILY FUN WITH ECFE

(FOR CHILDREN BIRTH-5 YEARS, BEFORE KINDERGARTEN) OAKLEY- MIN 4 KIDS, MAX 15 KIDS

Make nature discoveries, and meet new friends!  This class is offered at the Maplewood Nature Center in collaboration with Early Childhood and Family Education (ECFE) staff.  Parents stay with their children during the entire class. Preregistration is required.

 

 

CRAFTY BEES AND BUTTERFLIES

(FOR ADULTS, AND KIDS AGES 10 AND OLDER WITH ADULT)

Search colorful asters and goldenrod flowers for our helpful pollinators. After meeting a few; we go inside to create some through the craft of needle felting. We’ll use cookie cutters, wool roving and needles to make a bumble bee, green sweat bee, monarch or swallowtail butterfly. Snack provided!

SNEAKY SQUIRREL MYSTERY

(FOR CHILDREN, AGES 8+ WITH ADULT)

Stella the Squirrel has done it again! She’s rummaged through your belongings and now your precious magnifying glass is missing. Where can it be? Track down clues using a GPS unit to piece together where she’s hidden it. Closed-toed shoes and long pants recommended.

Honky Tonk Laundry

Move over, Thelma and Louise! When Lana Mae Hopkins, owner and proprietress of the Wishy Washy Washateria, hires Katie to help out in the laundromat, they soon find themselves up to their elbows in soap, suds, and cheatin’ hearts. Watch these two country angels join forces to turn their good ol’ laundromat into a bootscootin’ honky-tonk, exacting a touch of revenge against those that done ’em wrong, all while guaranteeing every customer a good, clean time!

Felt Collage Class for Kids (Grades K-5)

Join us at the Stillwater Public Library on Wednesday, June 13 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. for Felt Collage Class for Kids (Grades K-5). Explore line, shape and color while making a bright felt collage based on the paintings of 20th century Austrian artist, Friedensreich Hundertwasser. We will explore the textures of different textiles and how to manipulate those materials when making a collage. Kids in grades K-5 who are able to work independently (or with an older sibling) are welcome to participate.
